Switzerland Visa Application: Round-Trip Flight & Hotel Voucher Guide

Switzerland Visa Application: Flight and Lodging Essentials

Switzerland is famous for its alpine landscapes, punctual transit, and rigorous visa appraisal standards. When applying for a Swiss Schengen visa via VFS Global or the Swiss Embassy, presenting a cohesive, professional travel itinerary is mandatory.

Swiss Consular Requirements for Flight Bookings

The Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) requires proof of transport showing how you plan to enter and leave Switzerland. A tentative flight reservation with an active booking code (PNR) issued by a licensed travel agency or airline is fully accepted.

Accommodation Standards for Switzerland

Because Switzerland has high living costs, Swiss visa officers assess accommodation bookings as part of your financial means evaluation:

• Proof of hotel reservation, chalet booking, or youth hostel confirmation matching your proposed itinerary in Zurich, Geneva, Interlaken, or Lucerne.
• If sponsored by a Swiss resident, a formal Declaration of Sponsorship (Verpflichtungserklärung) must be submitted if hotel bookings are not provided.
• Daily financial requirement: You must prove at least CHF 100 per day of stay (CHF 30 per day for students).

Matching Dates with Swiss Medical Insurance

Swiss authorities require mandatory travel health insurance covering a minimum of €30,000. Your flight reservation dates must align perfectly with the valid coverage period of your insurance certificate.
