Turkey Sticker and e-Visa: Flight Ticket Rules
Whether traveling through Istanbul, Cappadocia, or the Turquoise Coast, entering the Republic of Türkiye requires either an e-Visa or a Consular Sticker Visa, depending on your nationality.
Turkish Embassy Sticker Visa Requirements
When applying for a tourist sticker visa at Turkish consulates or gateway visa centers, applicants must submit a round-trip flight reservation and confirmed hotel bookings. Consulates explicitly instruct travelers not to buy final tickets until the visa sticker has been stamped into the passport.
Turkey e-Visa Conditions
If you hold an electronic e-Visa, pay close attention to the conditions printed on your approval certificate:
- Holding a return ticket with a recognized carrier (such as Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, or Star Alliance partners).
- Having a confirmed hotel reservation and at least USD $50 per day of stay.
- Passports must have at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended entry date into Türkiye.
Turkish Border Police Inspections
Turkish Directorate General of Migration Management officers at Istanbul Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gokcen (SAW) regularly ask arriving tourists to present their return flight itinerary and hotel confirmation.
