Handling Flight Itineraries During Visa Processing Delays
Visa processing times can be unpredictable. Unforeseen backlogs, administrative processing, or additional document requests can push your decision past your original intended departure date. What should you do if your flight reservation dates pass while your passport is still at the embassy?
Do Not Panic
Embassies and consulates are well aware of their own processing backlogs. A consular officer reviewing an application whose proposed departure date has passed will not automatically reject the file for that reason alone.
Step-by-Step Action Plan
- Monitor Your Tracking Portal: Keep a close eye on your tracking status (VFS, TLS, or consular tracker).
- If Contacted by the Consulate: In many cases, the consulate will send an email stating: 'Your departure date has passed; please submit an updated travel itinerary and travel insurance policy.'
- Regenerate Your Itinerary: Use Dummy Ticket Factory to create a revised round-trip itinerary with new dates set 2 to 4 weeks into the future.
- Align Insurance and Hotels: Ensure your updated hotel bookings and medical insurance match the new flight dates.
- Submit Promptly: Reply to the consular email or upload the updated documents through your application portal.
Dummy Ticket Factory makes date adjustments fast and simple, ensuring you are never caught unprepared by administrative delays.
